Born and raised in Victoria, Julia established her career in hospitality and craft beverage marketing with a focus on guest experience and communications. She is passionate about civic engagement and has a long history of volunteering for community events across the CRD. Julia joined the family business in 2018, and it is her privilege to be the caretaker of a historic downtown business, and her responsibility to ensure that the Beehive is a positive, safe space for every team member and guest.
Since taking a leadership role at the Beehive Wool Shop, particularly throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Julia became aware of the inherent ability of knitting and crochet to create community and ease the stress of individuals across all age groups and gender identities. This experience, along with a focus on operational capacity and strong employment standards, forms Julia’s vision for the Beehive’s next chapter: to expand the business past its historic brick-and-mortar retail storefront to create community wellness and connection throughout her hometown.
