Equitable Learning Environment

We are proud to offer classes for adults with a range of physical and mental capabilities and from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

If you believe you may need more assistance with classes please contact us upon registration so that we can ensure that your course will be successful. Please be aware that, while we will do our best, we may not be able to accommodate all students. If we are unable to accommodate your individual needs, a credit will be available.

No-Scent Policy

Please avoid wearing scented creams or perfumes before entering the class as we are a scent-sensitive workplace and some products can trigger allergic reactions in others.

Smoking cigarettes or cannabis prior to class is also discouraged as the smell can be disruptive for others in the class.

Communicable Disease Prevention and Absences

If you feel ill with cough, flu, or COVID-19 symptoms, we ask that you please respect the health and safety of your peers and instructors and stay home. Let us know as soon as possible and we will do our best to catch you up to the class (this may be via online resources, email, or during an in-store help session).

Due to limited staffing and resources, any absence may result in missed techniques or guidance.

We highly recommend all students be vaccinated and/or boosted as per BC CDC guidelines. Vaccination passports are not required.

To provide additional protection to your instructor and fellow students, you may decide to wear a mask during classes.  As knitting and crochet instruction is hands-on, you can expect to be in close proximity to others throughout your course.

Class Materials

If your class requires supplies, you must arrive to the first class with all required materials. Purchases cannot be made during class time.

If you already own your own yarn or needles, but would like confirmation they are appropriate for the class, please contact the class coordinator or bring them to the shop and we can assist you.

If you need to purchase supplies, we offer a discount code for students to use in-store and online, which will be emailed to you.

Please note:

  • Only one project per class is eligible for a discount.
  • The code can only be used once per student. Plan to purchase all your supplies at one time, or contact us directly if you need additional purchases.
  • This code is non-transferrable and can only be used by the enrolled individual.

Arrival Details

Doors will be opened 10 minutes before class starts. We ask that you arrive early as late arrivals are disruptive, and we don’t want you to miss out on any important tips and tricks. If you arrive before doors are open, please wait outside and we will be with you as soon as possible.

Refund Policy

Full refunds for class tuition are available until 7 calendar days before the first session. Please email classes@beehivewoolshop.com to let us know you are unable to attend. Class supplies, if applicable, are available for refund as per our shop refund policy

If a class is cancelled and you have already purchased supplies, all items are eligible for a refund, even if the yarn has been wound.

See our Return Policy here.

The Beehive Wool Shop aims to create a welcoming space where customers, staff and students can be comfortable. This means a space free from discrimination based on race, class, sex, gender, size, sexuality, physical or mental ability, appearance or social standing. We take discrimination and harassment of staff and fellow customers very seriously.

Online Store

Rest assured that we would never ship out a mixed dye lot order without checking with you first! You can order large quantities without worry, and we will contact you if there are any mismatched dye lots so you can make an informed decision.

We check every ball before shipping to prevent errors. If you received a mixed dye lot order in error, let us know so that we can remedy the situation.

Please be aware that dye lots may not apply to hand-dyed skeins, and that large variation can occur within the same dye lot. We do not assume responsibility for dye variations in hand dyed skeins. We encourage you to alternate skeins every 2-or-so rows to prevent striping or pooling when knitting with hand-dyes.

Don’t fret! Simply send us an email, or call us Toll-Free at 1-888-334-9005 and we would be happy to amend your order. Depending on the type of error made, we may cancel your order and send you an updated invoice or send you a separate invoice with the desired items. Please note that changes to your order may change the amount you are charged for shipping or the day your package ships.

We have taken every precaution to ensure that colours are accurately represented in all our photography; however each monitor will display colours differently. Furthermore, colour changes may occur as a result of dye lot or manufacturing change.

Retail Store

The Beehive is well-served by transit, with bus stops nearby on Douglas Street. Use the BC Transit trip planner!

The store is one block north of the Pandora bike lanes, part of Victoria's bike network. Check out the map! Bike parking is available right outside our door, and also just inside the Fisgard Street Parkade.

Paid parking for cars is available on Douglas St and other side streets, or in the Fisgard Street Parkade, just across the street from our shop.

Our historic brick building has a front stoop with a step that may be difficult for customers in wheelchairs or with limited mobility, as well as one step inside the shop. We are happy to put a ramp out on request.

Please call the shop and request ramp access, either when you are en route to the store or just out front.

Sign up for our Newsletter in the box at the bottom of the page. Newsletter subscribers are given advance notice for classes and events, and are the first to hear about exciting sales and new items in the shop.
