Crochet Level 1: Beginner Crochet

Welcome back to crochet! Whether you learned recently or when you were younger, this course is for you. We will go over the basics to re-learn or refresh foundational skills. If you have never picked up a crochet hook before, please take Level 0.

You will learn several stitches as well as some helpful general skills by crocheting a cowl. 

The necessary materials and pattern are included in the cost of the course and will be provided to you in the first class.

Pattern: Foggy Morning Cowl by Tanis McNally-Dawes (provided)

You will learn how to:

  • Chain, single crochet, half-double crochet, and double crochet
  • Turn your work and keep the edges straight
  • Recognize stitches
  • Understand the concept of gauge
  • Follow a written pattern
  • Understand stitch abbreviations
  • Join a new ball
  • Seam
  • Finish your work

You should know how to:

  • Hold a crochet hook

Beehive will provide:

  • 3 balls of Drops Nepal
  • 5.5 mm  (US I/9) crochet hook
  • 2 of tapestry needles
  • 3 locking stitch markers (Clover)
