Plötulopi

Colour

Plötulopi is a 100% Icelandic wool unspun single-ply pencil roving, ideal for creating traditional Icelandic Lopi sweaters and other colourwork projects. Its airy yet surprisingly strong wool fibres are renowned for their durability, making Plötulopi the perfect choice for lightweight garments that will stand the test of time.

As with all pencil roving yarn, Plötulopi is delicate to work with and may not be suited for inexperienced or tight knitters due to the possibility of frequent breaks. While this yarn is easy to felt back together if this occurs, Plötulopi can be used with two or three strands held together, or combined with lace-weight Einband wool, for added strength and ease of knitting or crocheting.

The wool from Icelandic sheep comes in many different tones resulting in beautiful heathered colours. The fleece is dual-coated with both soft and long fibres providing you with warmth, lightness, strength, and protection.

Icelandic sheep spend part of the year roaming free, and in the colder months are kept warm and safe on the farms. No mulesing, chemicals, or hormones are used. The Istex spinning mill is farmer owned.
