Knitting Level 4: Intarsia


Explore the fantastic possibilities of colourwork knitting! Intarsia is one form of colourwork which allows you to introduce colour and pattern without carrying floats behind your work. This form of colourwork is always in style and will give you the skills to take on a larger project. In this workshop you will learn the basics of working intarsia flat in a three-colour small project.

Students are responsible for purchasing their yarn and needles prior to the start of the class.

Length: 2 sessions x 1.5 hours

Pattern:  Perfectly Preppy Washcloth by Emily Ringelman (Provided)

    You will learn how to:

    • Work intarsia flat
    • Changes on knit and purl rows
    • Manage multiple yarns
    • Follow a chart

    You should know how to:

    • Knit and purl
    • Cast on and bind off

    Beehive will provide:

    • Perfectly Preppy Washcloth pattern by Emily Ringleman

    You need to bring: 

    • 3 colours of worsted weight yarn
      • MC (light colour)  50g
      • CC1 (contrast stripe) 15g
      • CC2 (contrast heart) 20g
    • 4.5 mm (US 4), circular or straight knitting needles (or size needed to obtain gauge 20 sts x 28 rows)
    • 2 Stitch markers
