Knitting Level 1: Beginner Knit
Welcome back to knitting! Whether you learned recently or when you were younger, this course is for you. We will go over the basics to re-learn or refresh foundational skills. If you have never picked up needles before, please take Level 0.
You will learn the basic stitches as well as some helpful general skills by knitting a cowl.
Your materials and pattern are included in the cost of the course and will be provided to you at the first class.
Length: 4 sessions x 1.5 hours
Pattern: Simple Yet Effective by Tin Can Knits (Provided)
You will learn how to:
- Hold your yarn and needles
- Knit and purl
- Cast on and bind off
- Work in the round
- Fix common mistakes
- Follow a written pattern
- Recognize stitches
- Join a new ball
- Understand the basics of gauge and yarn weights
- Finish your work
Skills required:
- You have learned or tried to learn knitting in the past.
Beehive will provide:
- Pattern: Simple Yet Effective by Tin Can Knits
- 2 balls of Drops Nepal
- 5.0 mm (US 8), 60 cm (24”) circular knitting needle
- 2 tapestry needles
- 1 stitch marker
- Knit Step-by-Step by Vikki Haffenden
