Knitting Level 2: Ribbed Beanie and Handwarmers

You've got the knitting and purling thing down. Time for an easy project! In this class you will work on a classic ribbed toque, and start on a set of matching ribbed hand warmers using the same techniques. While completing this project you will learn pattern reading skills and how to use both double pointed and circular needles to knit in the round. You will become comfortable with these types of needles and receiving introduction to the basics of decreasing - and leave class with a new accessory set!

Length: 3 sessions x 2 hours
Pattern: Ribbed Beanie and Handwarmers by Churchmouse Yarns

Skills Taught:

  • Cable cast on
  • Backwards Loop cast on
  • Knitting in the round
  • Decreasing
  • Basic pattern reading
  • Changing to a new ball of yarn

Skills Required:

  • The Knit stitch
  • The Purl stitch
  • Basic stitch patterns: Garter, Ribbing, and Stockinette

Materials:

  • 1 skein of Berroco Vintage (or equivalent) in a light shade.
  • 4.5 mm / 40cm circular needles
  • 1 set of 4.5 mm DPNs (for the Beanie)
  • 1 set of 3.75 mm DPNs (for the Handwarmers)
  • 1 closed stitch marker
  • Sharp darning needle to finish
  • Pattern is provided in class
