Occupancy limits and social distancing:

  • We have set our sales floor occupancy limit to 18 (including staff). This is posted at our front door. This number is based on approximately 5 square metres of unencumbered space per person.
  • Staff will do their best to maintain social distancing and may remind customers to practice the same.
  • Major stocking will take place outside of store hours whenever possible.
  • A table has been placed in front of cash desk to maintain distancing between cashier and customers
Masks
  • Customers will not be allowed into the store unless they are wearing a mask that covers their nose and chin. 
  • Masks are available for customers who may have forgotten theirs.
  • Staff are expected to wear a mask at all times when in the building, with the exception of eating their lunch. This mask must cover their chin and nose.
  • Staff have been instructed on the proper usage of masks and signage is available.
  • Staff have been provided one N95 mask for each shift they work in a week, with instructions on how to sanitize the mask to maintain its efficacy for future use. This is an optional measure for their protection.
Hand washing and sanitization
  • Hand sanitizer will be placed beside the cash register (for staff) and on the table facing the cash register (for customers), in addition to the sanitizer at the entrance.
  • A sign has been placed on the door to the washroom on the sales floor indicating that customers are welcome to use our hand washing facilities
  • Customers will be asked to sanitize their hands upon entry and after coming into potential contact with bodily fluids (touching mask, blowing nose, after washroom use).
  • Staff must wash their hands upon entry and departure, before and after eating, and regularly throughout the day. Hands should be sanitized or washed after coming in contact with an item from the public, or after coming in likely/possible contact with bodily fluids (touching mask, blowing nose, sneezing, using washroom).
Cleaning
  • We are maintaining a clean environment in the workplace through routine cleaning practices. High touch surfaces should be cleaned three times per day, with a more thorough cleaning at least once per day.
Vaccinations and health: 
  • All Beehive staff are asked to be fully immunized against COVID-19, and Beehive provides flexibility and time off for staff to receive COVID-19 vaccinations and booster shots.
  • All individuals, including those with symptoms of COVID-19, those who have been in contact with a COVD-19 positive individual, or those who have travelled outside of Canada will be directed to follow current PHO orders.
  • If a staff person begins to feel ill at work:
    • Sick workers will report to management, even with mild symptoms.
    • Sick workers will be asked to wash/sanitize their hands and go straight home. They are to consult the BC COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool or call 811 to determine if they require COVID-19 testing/self-isolation, and when they may return to work
    • If any individual in the store becomes severely ill (eg. difficulty breathing, chest pain), we will call 911.
    • Any items that the sick individual may have touched will be disinfected.

Training and information

  • Informative signs have been posted around the store with occupancy limits and effective hygiene practices.
  • We have trained everyone in the workplace on the policies and procedures contained within this plan
  • All workers have received the policies for staying home when sick.
  • Supervisors have been trained on monitoring workers and the workplace to ensure policies and procedures are being followed
