Next Steps in Lace
4 weeks - $40
PREREQUISITES: Took Beginner Lace class or have some experience with lace.
INSTRUCTOR: Lindsay
Lindsay will teach several different lace stitches and techniques, while you knit a scarf (or stole if you want something larger). The pattern will be provided.
Required supplies: 400m of either 4-ply or lace weight yarn, and either 3.5mm or 4.0mm needles.
Beginner Knit
5 weeks - $50
PREREQUISITES: None
INSTRUCTOR: Dianna
Want to learn to knit...or move "beyond the scarf"? Learn to cast-on, bind-off, knit, purl, increase and decrease, and then knit a simple project.
Friday Night - 7:00-8:30 pm - Starts July 16th
Beginner Crochet
5 weeks - $50
PREREQUISITES: None
INSTRUCTOR: Bonnie
Fascinated by crochet fashions you've seen in the stores? The first step is to learn the 6 basic stitches! You'll crochet a simple project in class.
Wednesday Night - 6:30-8:00 - Starts July 14th
Next Steps in Knitting - Wristwarmers
5 weeks - $50
PREREQUISITES: Have taken Beginner Knitting OR know how to cast-on, knit, purl and bind-off.
Bring the fingerless mitt pattern you've dreamt of doing, with the yarn and needles required, and our instructor will help you make it a reality! As a bonus, she can teach you how to knit on 2 circular needles instead of DPNs.
Next Steps in Knitting - Mittens
4 weeks - $40
PREREQUISITES: Have taken Beginner Knitting OR know how to cast-on, knit, purl and bind-off.
Learn how to work in-the-round on double-pointed needles, make the thumb gusset, form the mitten top and then go back and knit the thumb.
Next Steps in Knitting - Felted Bag
5 weeks - $50
PREREQUISITES: Have taken Beginner Knitting OR know how to cast-on, knit, purl and bind-off.
By following a more complex pattern than you've tackled before (yarn and pattern of your own choosing!), you'll learn to understand the symbols, abbreviations and shaping techniques used to create a structured object.
Next Steps in Knitting - Fair Isle Hat
4 weeks - $40
PREREQUISITES: Have taken Beginner Knitting OR know how to cast-on, knit, purl and bind-off.
Master "stranding" and "carrying" techniques while learning how to work in-the-round on circular needles and DPNS, and to read a charted design.
Next Steps in Crochet
5 weeks - $50
PREREQUISITES: Have taken Beginner Crochet or are familiar with 6 basic stitches.
INSTRUCTOR: Bonnie
This group will work through garment production, learning how to read a complex pattern, and ending up with some 'wearable crochet art'!
Tuesday Night - 6:30-8:30 pm - Starts July 20th
Socks on Double-Pointed Needles
4 weeks - $40
PREREQUISITES: Have done basic knitting, know how to increase and decrease, have worked from a pattern before.
Create your first pair of socks using 5 DPN - knit using the top-down method.
Socks on Circulars
4 weeks - $40
PREREQUISITES: Experienced knitter - know how to knit, purl, increase & decrease.
INSTRUCTOR: Tanya
An innovative way to knit socks - on two circular needles!
Magic Loop Socks
4 weeks - $40
PREREQUISITES: Have made socks before, using another method.
Create 2 pairs of socks at the same time on one long circular needle!
Garment Class
6 classes - $60
PREREQUISITES: Have done simple projects such as toques, bags, mittens.
Dream of wearing your own hand-knit shrug, cape, shawl...or sweater? This class will enable you to do just that. You pick the pattern and yarn, and the instructor walks you through the project from start to finish. If you've already knit a sweater, pick something more difficult than you've accomplished in the past!
Monday Night - 6:30-8:30 pm - Starts July 26th - meets every 2nd week

Project Time "Drop-in"
The Sunday afternoon one-hour drop-in sessions resume on July 18th! If you purchased your project materials at the Beehive, this help session is FREE. There are two options: 1-2 pm or 2-3 pm. Please call the shop in advance to reserve your spot! 250-385-2727
We're in the process of setting up a Saturday education series. Free drop-ins to learn specific techniques: provisional cast-on, perfect swatching, grafting etc. Look for our next email with the complete schedule. Any suggestions? We'd love to hear them!
If you need more extensive assistance with your project, there's also the option of a
1-on-1 Session with an instructor! Flexible scheduling is available - $20/hour.
Beehive's Friday Night Knitting! FREE
Looking for a place to come and knit, chat, sip tea or coffee, and have some fun?! Bring your own mug and your knit or crochet project, and join everyone at our big table!

as we knit and crochet squares to be assembled into "bed toppers"
for the Victoria Hospice Society,
preemie baby hats, washcloths for Our Place shower stalls, and mittens for the Salvation Army.
Feel free to bring your own charitable knitting projects too!
It's an opportunity to sit with other knitters, drink a cup of coffee/ tea,
chat, laugh...and give something back to the community. Please bring a pair
of 4.5 mm needles with you. There is a City of Victoria parkade on Fisgard,
just west of Douglas Street - we have "1st Hour Free" coupons.
